Katie and Justin, what a delightful couple and a precious military engagement session! I've known Katie for a year or two now, but had the pleasure of meeting Justin for the very first time a day before their shoot, in Katie's living room. Not only was I impressed by his firm handshake, but they also were so kind as to make lemonade and shortbread cookies for my visit! This couple makes me feel like I'm watching an old classic romance, from the way they strolled through the garden with their picnic basket to the timeless smiles they shared.
Of course, when I asked to hear how they met and how he proposed, Justin was more than willing to share, beaming with a smile. Their love began at Katie's grandmother's house, when Justin's mom was taking care of Katie's grandmother. They went on walks and had picnics, talking for hours under a tree near the house. When it came time to propose, Justin brought Katie to that same tree and asked her to spend the rest of her life by his side. How sweet is that!?
This is my first military engagement shoot, and I really enjoyed all of the sweet moments that came along with it, like the letters they have written to one another over the years (both saved every single one!), and I hope it's only the first of many to come. Justin is currently working as a submarine sonar technician with the U.S. Navy and Katie is pursuing a degree in Elementary Education at Palm Beach Atlantic University. We had such a fabulous afternoon at Mounts Botanical Gardens, and I am so excited for them as they plan a beautiful wedding for this upcoming year.
