If you're in the music world in South Florida, you might recognize Ashlyn Taylor, or at least her name. Ashlyn is a rare breed of high school singer, she's an incredible mezzo (gasp!) and for those of you that aren't fluent in "classical singer" that means her voice is velvety smooth, lower than most girls her age, and super enjoyable to listen to. Ashlyn has been studying music for a really long time, considering her young age and has spent her summers traveling to multiple summer programs to work with some of the best teachers in the business.
I think Ashlyn and her family are super cool, I grew up looking up to her older sister Jessica Taylor, who I had the privilege of photographing a few years ago. (Check it out here). This past year, I was delighted to observe Ashlyn's incredible work ethic as she pursued her studies at Dreyfoos School of the Arts as well as participated in the Palm Beach Opera Chorus and traveled for competitions and workshops. The discipline she has as an artist reminds me of a quote I heard my freshman year of college:
Ashlyn not only has the talent, she has the discipline and the drive to take her voice to the next level. I can't wait to see where it leads.
